- All Purpose flour/maida – ¾ cup
- Cocoa Powder – ¼ cup
- Baking Powder – 1 tsp
- Salt – 1/8 tsp
- Sugar – ½ cup
- Wet Ingredients:
- Butter – ¼ cup(room temperature)
- Boiling hot water – ½ cup
- Egg – 1 no(room temperature)
- Vanilla Extract – 1 tsp
Drumstick Leaves Poriyal

Drumstick leaves poriyal – an iron-rich thoran goes well with all rice varieties
- Murunga Keerai (Drumstick Leaves) - 3 cups
- Water – ¼ cup
- Coconut – 3 tbsp( shredded)
- Salt – as required (add little amount)
- To temper:
- Oil – 2 tsp
- Mustard – ½ tsp
- Urad dal – 1 tsp
- Channa dal – 1 tbsp
- Red chilies – 2 nos.
Spicy Watermelon

Spicy watermelon – an alternate go using melon fruit
- Watermelon – 2 cups(De- seeded and cubed)
- Red chili powder – ¼ tsp
- Coriander powder – ¼ tsp
- Cumin powder – ¼ tsp
- Pepper powder – 1/8 tsp
- Salt – 1/8 tsp
- Lemon juice – 1 tbsp
Paruppu urundai kuzhambu

Paruppu urundai kuzhambu , Lentil dumplings cooked in tamarind water and chilli spices
- To make Lentil balls(Urundai) :
- Channa dal(kadalai paruppu) – ½ cup
- Red chilies – 4 nos
- Saunf(fennel seeds) – ½ tsp
- Hing( Perungayam) – a generous pinch
- Salt- 1 tsp
- Onion – ½ cup( finely chopped)
- Coriander leaves – ¼ cup (finely chopped)
- For Kuzhambhu:
- Big onions or shallots – ½ cup (chopped)
- Garlic flakes – 10 nos
- Tomatoes – ½ cup(Chopped)
- Tamarind – lemon size
- Kuzhambhu chili powder – 2 tbsp
- Red chili powder – 1 tsp
- Coriander powder – 1 tbsp
- Coriander leaves – handful( chopped)
- Salt – as needed
- To temper:
- Oil – 4 tbsp
- Mustard – 1 tsp
- Fenegreek seeds – ½ tsp
- Curry Leaves – few springs
Fig fruit milkshake

- Watermelon – 3 to 4 cups (De-seeded and cut into pieces)
- Sugar – ½ cup or as needed
- Rose water /essence – ½ tsp (Optional)

prawn Fry

Prawn fry, this version is simple yet tasty
- Prawns – ½ kg
- Shallot /Pearl onions ( Chinna vengayam) – 1/3 cup or 10 nos ( finely chopped)
- Garlic – 3tbsp ( finely crushed)
- Tomatoes – 2 small ones or 1 big tomato( finely chopped)
- Red chili powder – 1 tsp
- Garam Masala – 1 tsp
- Cumin powder – ½ tsp
- Coriander powder – 1 tbsp
- Salt – as needed
- Coriander leaves – to garnish
- To temper:
- Oil – 2tbsp
- Curry leaves - 1 spring
- Fennel seeds( saunf / sombu) – 1 tsp( finely crushed)
Bisibelebath

Bisibelebath is an authentic flavourful Karnataka recipe
- Rice – 1 cup
- Toor dhal – ½ cup
- Vegetables – 1 ½ cup(drumstick,Carrot and beans)
- Tamarind – small lemon size
- Turmeric powder – ½ tsp
- Salt – as needed
- Small Onions or shallots – 10 to 15 nos.
- Tomato – 1 no. Big size(Finely chopped)
- Grated copra(Dried coconut) – 1 cup
- Coriander leaves – ¼ cup( to garnish)
- To temper:
- Oil -2 ½ tbsp.
- Mustard seeds – 1 tsp
- Marudhani Mokku/marati Moggu – 2 to 3
- To roast and grind(Spice powder):
- Cinnamon stick – small piece
- Cloves – 3 to 4
- Cardamom -1
- Khus khus/Poppy seeds - 1 tbsp
- Coriander seeds – 2 tbsp
- Red chilli – 8 to 10 nos.
- Methi/Fenugreek seeds – ½ tsp
- Channa dal – 1 tbsp
- Urad dal – 1 tbsp
- Ghee – 1 tbsp
- Rice – 1 cup
