Lose weight with DASH, the most relaxed diet ever!

Have you ever heard of the DASH diet? It's an approach designed to stop high blood pressure where you can lose weight and and keep it off in the long run—just by avoiding certain habits. Here's how it works.

Small Change - Large Effect

Small Change - Large Effect

"DASH" actually stands for "dietary approaches to stop hypertension." Not only are the risk of hypertension and stroke reduced, but you'll lose weight in a way that is sustainable, without the well-known and hated yo-yo effect.

The relaxed part of this diet is that you don't have to starve or fast. You can eat a lot as long as it's healthy. The main options are fruits and vegetables with low quantities of animal fats and sodium. In the mornings, for example, you can turn to whole-grain products such as oatmeal, muesli (without added sugar) or wholemeal bread. For snacks, it may be fresh fruit, dried fruit, frozen fruit or fresh fruit juice. Also suitable for lunch and dinner are vegetables, protein-rich legumes, low-fat dairy products, lean meats and fish (poultry, beef, pollock, cod), nuts and soy products.

Sugar, salt and animal fats should be limited. If this is difficult for you, just power through! Soon your body will get used to seasoning with herbs instead of salt, frying with vegetable oils instead of butter, using coconut sugar instead of refined sugar and so on.

In addition to small dietary changes, you should move regularly and go for long walks, speeding up the pace every now and then. After a short while, you will notice how your body changes and how much better you feel. Stick with it, and you'll see why it's one of the most relaxed diet plans!
