Sumo Dog’s Japanese-Inspired “Godzilla” Hot Dog

Sumo Dog serves up an all-American classic intertwined with traditional flavors from Japan. The Godzilla Dog was a massive hit at this year’s Coachella festival, and here’s what you need to recreate the perfect marriage of two cultures at home.

Ingredients (for 1 Godzilla dog):

  • 1 footlong all-beef hot dog
  • Beef chili (store-bought or homemade)
  • Togarashi cheese sauce (store-bought or homemade)
  • Wasabi relish (store-bought or homemade)
  • Pickled peppers, sliced
  • Spicy mayo
  • Teriyaki sauce
  • Furikake
  • Minced onion
  • Jalapeno, sliced
  • Seaweed sheets
  • 1 footlong hotdog bun

Instructions:

  1. Preheat your grill or stovetop pan to medium-high heat.
  2. Place the footlong all-beef hot dog on the grill and cook, turning occasionally, until it is heated through and has grill marks on all sides. This should take about 5-7 min.
  3. While the hotdog is grilling, lightly toast the footlong hotdog bun on the grill until it's warm and slightly crispy.
  4. Place the grilled hotdog in the toasted bun.
  5. Add toppings in this order: beef chili, togarashi cheese sauce drizzle, dollop of wasabi relish, pickled peppers, spicy mayo, teriyaki sauce, furikake, minced onion, jalapeno, seaweed sheets
