Dinner Rolls
These easy dinner rolls are a breeze to make, and they are the perfect fluffy, buttery compliment to any meal. With just a few simple ingredients and minimal effort, you can create delicious rolls to feed a crowd or freeze for later! The dough requires two rises to achieve its soft, airy texture, and a final brush of melted butter after baking adds a golden, tender finish.
Ingredients (for 16 rolls):
- 1 cup warm water (110°F to 115°F)
- 2 1/4 tsp active dry yeast (1 packet)
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1/3 cup melted butter
- 1 tsp salt
- 3 1/2 to 4 cups all-purpose flour
Instructions:
- In a large mixing bowl, combine warm water and sugar. Sprinkle the yeast over the water and let it sit for about 5 min. until frothy.
- Add the melted butter and salt to the yeast mixture. Gradually add 3 1/2 cups of flour, mixing until a soft dough forms. If the dough is too sticky, add additional flour, a little at a time, until the dough is manageable.
- Turn the dough onto a floured surface and knead for about 5-7 min. until smooth and elastic. Alternatively, use a stand mixer with a dough hook attachment to knead the dough for about 5 min.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl, turning it to coat all sides. Cover the bowl with a damp cloth or plastic wrap and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
- Punch down the dough to release any air bubbles. Divide the dough into 16 equal pieces. Shape each piece into a ball and place them in a greased 9x9-inch casserole dish, spacing them evenly.
- Cover the casserole dish with a damp cloth or plastic wrap and let the rolls rise in a warm place for about 30 min. or until doubled in size.
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Bake the rolls for 15-20 min. or until golden brown on top.
- Brush the tops of the rolls with melted butter immediately after removing them from the oven. Allow the rolls to cool slightly before serving, and enjoy!
