Parker House Rolls

Buttery, tender, and slightly sweet, Parker House Rolls are the ultimate crowd-pleaser. Their golden, pillow-soft texture makes them irresistible, whether served at a holiday feast, a casual dinner, or as a snack straight from the pan. These classic rolls bring a touch of warmth and nostalgia to any gathering.

Ingredients (for 12 rolls):

  • 3 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 packet (2 ¼ tsp) active dry yeast
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 cup whole milk, warmed (110°F/43°C)
  • 4 tbsp unsalted butter, melted (plus extra for brushing)
  • 1 large egg

Instructions:

  1. In a small bowl, combine the warm milk, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for 5-10 min. until it becomes frothy.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour and salt. Add the yeast mixture, melted butter, and egg. Mix until a soft dough forms.
  3. Transfer the dough to a lightly floured surface and knead for 8-10 min., or until smooth and elastic. Alternatively, use a stand mixer with a dough hook for 5-6 min.
  4. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a clean kitchen towel, and let it rise in a warm place for 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
  5. Punch down the dough and divide it into 12 equal pieces. Roll each piece into a ball and arrange them in a greased 9x13-inch baking dish or on a baking sheet.
  6. Cover the rolls with a kitchen towel and let them rise again for 30-40 min., or until puffy.
  7. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Brush the rolls with melted butter and bake for 18-22 min., or until golden brown.
  8. Remove the rolls from the oven and brush them with more melted butter for an extra glossy finish. Let them cool slightly before serving.
