What is now commonly known as French Toast was traditionally a dish to use up stale bread. In fact, this dish tastes better with dry bread than with fresh one.
Ingredients (serves 2):
4 Slices stale bread
2 eggs
A splash of milk
A pinch of cinnamon
Sugar for sprinkling
Instructions:
Beat the eggs with a splash of milk and add a pinch of cinnamon.
Soak the bread slices in the egg mixture one by one.
Heat some fat in a skillet and fry the "Poor Knights" until crispy.
