Golden and crispy, these puffed twists are a simple yet elegant appetizer that combines buttery puff pastry with tender asparagus. The puff pastry creates a perfect crunch while the fresh asparagus stays crisp and flavorful. Finished off with a sprinkle of Parmesan cheese, these twists are a great addition to your Easter brunch or appetizer spread.
Ingredients (for 12 twists):
1 sheet puff pastry (thawed)
12 asparagus spears, trimmed
1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
1 tbsp olive oil
Salt and pepper, to taste
Optional: Fresh lemon zest or thyme for garnish
Instructions:
Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Roll out the puff pastry sheet on a lightly floured surface. Cut it into 12 strips, each about 1 inch wide.
Take each asparagus spear and wrap it with one strip of puff pastry. Lay the asparagus on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
Drizzle the wrapped asparagus with olive oil, then sprinkle with Parmesan cheese. Season with salt and pepper.
Bake for 15–20 min. or until the puff pastry is golden and crispy, and the asparagus is tender.
Optional: Garnish with a light sprinkle of fresh lemon zest or thyme before serving. Serve warm.
