Cutting Boards - 3-10 years

Cutting boards are often subjected to severe wear and tear from knives. All that cutting, chopping and slicing  runs them down quickly, so it's important to keep an eye out for these telltale signs. If you own a cutting board made of low-density wood, you'll notice that it needs to be replaced after a few months because the wood will start shifting and cracking from water (when being washed). Stick to higher quality wooden cutting boards, which will last between 5-10 years. As for plastic cutting boards, they get scratched easily and lose small plastic particles which can sneak into your foods. Typically, they'll need to be replaced every 3 years.

Here's how to sanitize your cutting boards without chemicals.
