Chocolate chip cookies remain the number one cookie flavor in America, according to a 2022 survey conducted by OnePoll on behalf of Crumbl Cookies. Even without the survey, its popularity can hardly be questioned, given the more than 7 billion chocolate chip cookies consumed by Americans every year, with about 50% of them being homemade.

And what's not to like? A truly great chocolate chip cookie has different layers of texture: a crispy exterior and soft, chewy inner core; an indulgent buttery flavor with the right proportion of chocolate chips; slight caramelization.
