Just when you think you've heard every secret, hack and little-known fact about the fast-food giant... here comes another shocker.

Former McDonald's employee Nick Evans, who worked at a McDonald's restaurant in Louisiana, shared a couple of snaps from the restaurant on his Twitter account, which quickly went viral.

A picture is worth a thousand words...

We don't know about you, but we would have been totally unable to recognize that without the caption.

McDonald’s quickly repsonded, releasing a statement writing: “We are committed to running great restaurants that provide our customers with high quality food, service and a clean environment. This is a part of our soft serve equipment that does not come into contact with any food and is required to undergo regular and timely cleaning.”

Yet when he was interviewed by HuffPost, Evans elaborated that “Sometimes my coworkers would drop the food and put it back on the bun,” adding that he’s “seen it happen several times.”

It's hardly surprising that these photos have caused a huge scandal, although some fans have come out to defend the chain, saying they should not be judged on the state of just one of its premises.

Ready for something more appetizing? Skip the restaurant altogether. This is how you can make the perfect Big Mac right at home.
