Did you know that homemade pizza consumes much less electricity if you make it on the stovetop? This also applies to frozen pizza, by the way.
Ingredients (serves 4):
4 cups all-purpose flour
1 1/2 cups water
2 tbsp olive oil
1/2 tsp salt
1 cube yeast
1 1/2 cups tomato sauce
1 3/4 cups shredded mozzarella
Olive oil to taste
Basil
Instructions:
Dissolve the yeast in warm water in a bowl, then add flour, salt, and oil, and knead everything well with a fork. After 5 minutes, knead by hand until a compact dough forms. Let it rise covered under a blanket.
After about an hour of rising time, roll out the dough and place it in a previously greased pan. Make sure the dough does not tear when spreading it in the pan.
Cover the edges of the pan well with the dough.
Spread the pizza dough with tomato sauce. Add diced mozzarella and salt to taste.
Cover the pan with a lid and cook over medium heat for about 3 minutes, then lower the heat to medium-low and cook for 10 minutes more.
Sprinkle with fresh basil leaves and serve.
Tip: Feel free to add any additional toppings you like: olives, mushrooms, onions, pepperoni etc. Certain toppings like chicken, sausage, or vegetables that require longer cooking times (bell peppers, sweet potato, kale, mushrooms, etc.) should be cooked in the pan beforehand.
