Looking for finger food with a healthy filling? These puff pastry snacks encase asparagus, and since they also work with jarred asparagus, we can enjoy them at any event.
Ingredients (serve 4)
1 package puff pastry
2/3 cup crème fraîche
24 sticks of green asparagus or jarred asparagus
6 slices of ham
1 egg
Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
Preheat the oven to 400°F.
Season the crème fraîche with salt and pepper.
Prepare the pastry according to the package instructions and remove the paper if necessary. Cut into twelve rectangles. Make two parallel cuts along each corner, parallel to the edge.
Spread 1 tbsp of the crème fraîche mixture on each corner.
Clean the asparagus and cut them in half crosswise. Wrap three to four asparagus halves with a slice of ham and place in the center of each pastry corner.
Fold the two opposite pastry corners over each other and brush with egg.
Bake the asparagus puffs in the oven for about 15 minutes until golden brown.
