Ingredients (for 12 buns):

For the Buns:

  • 3½ cups all-purpose flour
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar
  • 2¼ tsp active dry yeast
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • ½ tsp nutmeg
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ¾ cup warm milk
  • ¼ cup butter, melted
  • 2 eggs
  • ¾ cup raisins or currants

For the Crosses:

  • ½ cup flour
  • 5–6 tbsp water

For the Glaze:

  • ¼ cup powdered sugar
  • 1–2 tsp milk

Instructions:

  1. In a large bowl, combine flour, sugar, yeast, spices, and salt. Add warm milk, butter, and eggs. Mix until a dough forms.
  2. Knead in raisins. Cover and let rise for 1 hour or until doubled.
  3. Divide into 12 rolls. Place on a greased baking dish and let rise for another 30 min.
  4. Mix flour and water to make a paste. Pipe a cross onto each bun.
  5. Bake at 375°F for 20–25 min. until golden.
  6. Mix powdered sugar and milk for the glaze and drizzle over cooled buns.
