Vinegar

Vinegar is a useful acidic component in many recipes, due to its chemical properties and intense flavor. Fortunately, you can usually replace one type of vinegar with another or a similar acidic ingredient. To replace apple cider vinegar or white vinegar, sub equal amounts of lemon or lime juice. To replace 1 tbsp balsamic vinegar, sub 1 tbsp red wine or apple cider vinegar + 1/2 tsp brown sugar, honey or granulated sugar. For 1 tbsp red wine vinegar, combine 1 1/2 tsp white vinegar with 1 1/2 tsp red wine. Sherry vinegar can be replaced with the same amount of red or white wine.
