Think about where your gaze naturally falls first, and put the most perishable items there. Dividing items in your fridge (and pantry and freezer) into plastic tubs is also a great way of using space well and containing spills if they occur. If you want to get really organized, create a series of time-coded containers: things that have a long life, things about to go out of date soon, and an urgent “Eat Me First!” box.
