The weirdest moments in the history of SEX!

Thought you invented sex? Sorry to break it to you, but our ancestors were a seriously busy, creative bunch!

Here are some of our favorite surprising moments in the history of sex:

1. On his wedding night, the future King William of Orange was watched during the entire consummation by his uncle Charles II, who yelled encouragement and advice from the sidelines!

2. One of the first vibrators built in 1869, was steam-powered! "The Manipulator"was created by the physician George Taylor who used it to treat women for "hysteria" by... well, masturbating them. Types of pelvic massages had long been used to treat women for a variety of illnesses, but the male doctors were apparently fed up with getting sore wrists and hands from doing things the old-fashioned way.

3. In England in the 17th Century, women gave the object of their affection a loaf of bread shaped like a clam. Why? The bread was considerate to be a strong aphrodisiac, perhaps because the bread was shaped by being pressed against the woman's vagina! A clam indeed.

4. In the Middle Ages, unsatisfied women would bring their husbands before a tribunal, where he had to prove his ability to have sex with her in front of doctors and other specialists. If he succeeded, it was very embarrassing for the woman, however if he didn't succeed  it was devastating for his reputation. No pressure guys...

5. In the 18th Century it was very popular to carry elaborate pocket watches, which would be commissioned to include nice portraits of the fiancee, wife or husband of the owner. Hidden behind the innocent portraits however, were often highly pornographic images of all types. Always keep it close to your heart!

6.  In 1524 the Italian engraver Marcantonio Raimondi produced the first edition of I Modi (The Ways), a book which included pornographic images of sixteen different sexual positions. Raimondi attempted to avoid prosecution and censorship by using characters from Greek and Roman mythology to illustrate the poses, hoping that the long history of nudity in classical art would protect him. Unfortunately, it didn't and he was imprisoned by Pope Clement VII.
