Dubble Bubble

Dubble Bubble is an easy candy to hand out to trick-or-treaters, given its individual wrapping and small format. It was introduced in 1928 by Philadelphia's Fleer Chewing Gum Company, which had worked to create a formula for gum that would allow for blowing bubbles without sticking. An accountant at Fleer named Walter Diemer came up with the winning recipe, which was pink because it was the only food coloring available to him. Diemer decided to wrap each piece individually, and Dubble Bubble was born. Today, the gum is owned by Tootsie Roll Industries.
