Got Food Allergies? Scientists Might Have Found The Cure

Food allergies can be difficult to manage, and even life-threatening in some situations. If you or a loved one suffers from severe food allergies, you must know how hard it is to take precautions.

Peanut allergy is among the most common food allergies, and can even result in severe anaphylaxis. But there's hope: scientists have recently announced that they're on the way to finding a cure.

Hope for a Cure?

A team of researchers in Australia has published their study regarding the long-term effects of oral immunotherapy as a treatment for food allergies. Their results can have significant implications for how we treat food allergies further down the road.

The study's participants were given combined peanut and probiotic therapy (a mix of peanut allergen and bacteria). Four years after the treatment, the majority of the participants were still able to eat peanuts without having any adverse reaction.

Imagine if you could take a treatment for your peanut allergy and not have to worry about it for at least another four years! Of course, this was a limited study so you'll have to wait until more data comes out before you seek out treatment. But if this study proves to be correct, then the world could very well be food-allergy-free in the years to come.
