She lost 92lb, and is now swimming in her size 22 wedding dress

Shandra Redwine lost an astonishing amount of weight in her "crazy journey" , but most impressive of all: she did it on her own terms.

I was doing another closet purge just now and found my size TWENTY-TWO wedding dress buried in the back. I haven’t tried it on since my wedding 5 years ago and thought it might be great #transformationtuesday Material. The craziest part is that I had already lost 35 lbs and I was feeling super skinny on my wedding day. What a crazy journey!

The Incredible Shrinking Woman

Just five years ago, Shandra Redwine was married in a beautiful size 22 wedding dress. Today, it dwarfs her size 10 frame.

Shandra lost an incredible 92lb through a combination of a few simple lifestyle changes and a gigantic dose of determination.

In an interview with POPSUGAR, Shandra explained how she achieved such amazing weight loss results.

60lb Down, 30 to go...

"I lost the first 62 pounds by reducing my caloric intake to 1,200," she said.

While this might sound like she was following a very strict diet, it turns out that she just needed to eliminate processed and junk foods, and switch to  a diet high in whole grains, fruit, and vegetables.

In this way, she was able to drop 62lb safely and sustainably.

Recently, she made another change: switching to the ketogenic diet which is high-fat, low-carb and works by getting your body to burn fat, instead of sugar, for energy.

Shandra credits the change with allowing her to drop another whopping 30lb.   "I feel amazing and have never found it easier to lose weight."

In terms of exercise, she is training for a half marathon, and supplements her cardio workouts with 30 minute strength training sessions during the week.  "I also do squats and lunges every morning — gotta work on those buns!"

#transformationtuesday I can’t tell you the number of times I heard people say things like “she has such a pretty face, if only she were thinner”. As if my value was disqualified by my weight. Seeing my own beauty and worth regardless of my outward appearance was the single BIGGEST key to losing the weight. Don’t let anyone devalue you. * I received free Dermablend and Skinceuticals skin care and makeup that were used in my after photo. #PowerInEveryDrop #DermablendPro #SkinCeuticals #Complimentary #Contest @DermablendPro @SkinCeuticals

Shandra is also upfront about the hard work required to get to where she is:  "The biggest challenge in losing a large amount of weight is hands down the mental work. It's really not about the food or the nutrition as much as the life and eating habits," she said.

Words to live by.
