The cures: Whole milk, apples, mouthwash, brushing and parsley

According to a study published in the Journal of Food Science, the calcium contained in milk helps to neutralize the sulfuric compounds found in garlic to cut off the lasting putrid effects.

Apples are also a wise choice, both for their scraping and cleansing properties while chewing and for their polyphenols that break down the sulfuric compounds.

Other quick-fix methods include gurgling mouthwash, brushing and flossing immediately after eating (to remove any leftover food bits in your teeth) and chewing on parsley.
