Trying to open it too early
One of the most common and dangerous mistakes when using a pressure cooker is trying to open it too early. As long as there is pressure left inside, it needs to remain closed because there is a risk of the contents of the pressure cooker "exploding" when you remove the lid. If there is still air being released from the valve, it's not ready. And remember, if you release the pressure manually, and it doesn't open easily, stop immediately and let the pressure continue to drop. If using the natural release method (taking the pressure cooker off the stove and letting the pressure drop naturally), you need to wait least 10-15 minutes before attempting to open the lid. And if you encounter any resistance when opening it, wait a little longer before trying again.
