Overeating
Most portion sizes in restaurants are massive and contain enough calories to cover multiple meals. Fast foods and processed foods also contain more calories than we need. So why do we always end up eating more than we should? For starters, many of us were raised to clean our plates and finish every bite. This is a difficult habit to unlearn as adults. It's crucial to listen to our bodies, as they usually signal when we are full. And this will happen before our plates are empty.
A tip for when you're eating at home is to use smaller plates. This way, we can "trick" our minds by eating off full plates, making it easier to eat smaller portions. If you use large plates that are only half covered (but with a normal portion size), you'll be more easily tempted to go for seconds. When you're dining out, ask your server to wrap up half your meal before bringing it out, so you can avoid overeating and get 2 meals for the price of 1!
