What Causes Cellulite?

In order to elminate cellulite, you have to know what causes it. It starts in our skin — specifically the deepest part of our skin called the hypodermis. This layer of skin accumulates the fat necessary for pregnancy, which is stimulated by hormones such as progesterone and estrogen. When we go through diet or weight changes, the fat in this area begins to grow and forms the folds we see as cellulite.

Sometimes it's genetic, but cellulite commonly begins during pregnancy. As we often lead sedentary lifestyles, we don't get enough exercise and and start to accumulate more fat. If you also have a poor diet rich in fats and sugars, you might see that weight gain reflected in your skin. Finally, the lack of physical activity and and weight gain can have a negative impact on your circulation, which results in less collagen production and premature aging.
