Bowes' great-great-grandson Captain Christopher Hussey went on to become a founder of Nantucket, Massachusetts and is distantly related to Markle's father. Lady Elizabeth Bowes-Lyon, mother of the reigning Queen Elizabeth II, belonged to Ralph Bowes' line of English heirs. Many centuries and generations later, two of the good sheriff's descendants met and fell in love.
