How do You Prevent INfecting Others With The Virus?

Aside from eating healthfully, getting enough sleep and drinking lots of water, there are a few things you should always be doing when you're sick with a cold or flu:

  • Wash your hands frequently. Especially if they've come into contact with bodily fluids, such as mucus or saliva.
  • Cover your mouth when you cough or sneeze. This one should go without saying (common courtesy), but it's even more important to make sure you do this while infected. Viral cells are contained in the spray that comes from coughing or sneezing, so cover your mouth with a tissue or the elbow of your sleeve if you have nothing else.
  • Throw away used tissues! Re-using old tissues only maintains contact with the virus and contaminates your hands and everything you touch.

If you're feeling particularly bad or your symptoms become extreme, see a doctor. And stay home from work, school or other social activities to prevent the illness from spreading. Here are 10 tips to fight the common cold around the clock
