What Is The KetoGenic Diet?
You can think of the ketogenic diet as the Atkins' stricter cousin. It's comprised of low carbs, moderate protein, and high fat. This involves highly restricting starches and grains (including quinoa and whole wheat), limiting fruit intake, and cutting out processed foods altogether. Most calories instead come from healthy fats such as butter, avocado oil, flax seed, and olive oil. The keto diet also encourages animal proteins (e.g. fish, chicken, grass-fed beef) as well as leafy greens and other low-starch vegetables.
