It's Easy To Make

Making popped sorghum at home is well, as easy as making popcorn! There are varied opinions around the web on what the right method is: whether or not to use oil, whether or not to cover the grains while cooking, etc. We recommend the following method: heat a 4-quart saucepan over high heat. When you think it's hot enough, drop some water in it—it should sizzle and evaporate, but the pan should not be smoking. Add the sorghum grains, without completely covering the bottom of the pan. Stir the grains or shake the pan occasionally to prevent burning. Continue until the popping slows down; 10 seconds between each pop means it should be done. Remove the pan from heat, and season to taste.
