Bunny Chow - South Africa

This popular South African fast food dish comes from the city of Durban and is composed of a hollowed-out bread bowl filled with hot curry. Although the original bunny chow was vegetarian (beans-based), you can now find many meat-filled versions, including mutton or lamb, fried sausage, and chicken curries. They come in quarter, half and full-sized loaves and are meant to be eaten by hand without utensils. Even the smallest size is considerably filling, and the curries at street stands can be quite oily, so there's no shame in splitting an order (the locals do this, too).
