Ingredients

  • 1tblsp active dry yeast
  • 2 1/2cups warm water
  • 2cups flour
  • 1tblsp white sugar

Preparation

Step 1

Dissolve yeast in 1/2 cup warm water

Step 2

Stir in the rest of the water, then the flour and sugar

Step 3

Cover and let rest in a large and deep non-metalic pot or crock at room temperature for 5 to 10 days until bubbly. Stir the mix everyday

Step 4

Refrigerate after mix has bubbled

Step 5

After each use of starter feed the original mix with 3/4 cup flour, 3/4 cup water and 1tsp sugar. Then let it ferment at room temperature for 1day before storing again in the fridge

Bring the starter to room temperature before using in the bread recipe
