Anijsmelk - The Netherlands
This comforting Dutch drink is considered an old-fashioned "night cap" that consists of hot milk infused with licorice-flavored anise seed and sweetened with sugar or honey. It is believed to help one fall asleep, due to the warmth of the drink and the calming effects of anise, which is also associated with improved digestion. Nowadays, you can find anise-flavored tablets that dissolve in the milk for easy preparation.
