Avoiding Fat
Fats have a bad reputation and are often avoided by many people. However, healthy fats should be part of our diet and consumed regularly.
We should avoid trans fats from processed foods and saturated fats from red meat, as the former promote fat deposition and the latter increase the risk of cardiovascular diseases.
Healthy fats, on the other hand, aid digestion, stabilize blood sugar levels, increase the feeling of fullness, and promote healthy fatty tissue. Nuts, seeds, olive oil, and salmon, for example, contain unsaturated fats that positively influence blood sugar levels. Medium-chain triglycerides from foods like coconut oil support fat burning. Avoiding healthy fats can therefore be counterproductive when trying to lose weight.
