Healthy Chicken Wraps

Wraps may seem like unhealthy fast food, but they can be nutritious when filled with fresh ingredients. They are quick and easy to prepare while providing you with a delicious, wholesome meal.

Ingredients (for 4 wraps):

  • 2 chicken breasts
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp cumin
  • 1 tsp chili powder
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 onion
  • 1 red bell pepper
  • 1 yellow bell pepper
  • 1 green bell pepper
  • 1/2 tsp sugar
  • 1 tsp vinegar
  • 1 sprig cilantro
  • 4 wheat tortillas
  • 1 avocado
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions:

  1. Cut the chicken into strips and marinate with olive oil, cumin, chili powder, garlic powder, salt, and pepper.
  2. Put the marinated chicken strips in a bowl and refrigerate for 4 hours to allow the flavors to develop.
  3. Heat some oil in a non-stick pan and add the chicken. Stir-fry for 5 minutes and then remove from heat.
  4. Peel and slice the onion into moderate-sized rings. Wash and slice the bell peppers into strips. Heat oil in the same pan where you cooked the chicken. Once the oil is hot, sauté the onion for 2 minutes over medium heat, then add sugar and vinegar to caramelize. Stir constantly to prevent sticking. After 5 minutes, add the bell peppers and stir. Add a little more olive oil if needed.
  5. Once the bell pepper strips are nearly cooked, stir in the chicken and cilantro.
  6. Heat the tortillas in the oven or on a pan, turning them after 2 minutes. Peel and slice the avocado into strips.
  7. In the center of each tortilla, spread a spoonful of the chicken and bell pepper mixture, add a few avocado slices, and season with salt. Fold the tortilla and serve with a Mexican sauce.

Tip: You can also use vegan chicken substitutes. Enjoy your healthy wraps!
