According to recent research conducted by the Journal of the American College of Cardiology, it is possible to be fat but healthy... to some extent. Obese individuals (with 30+ BMI) can be declared "healthy" when taking into account cholesterol levels, blood pressure levels, and insulin resistance. 
But is their good health only temporary, or do they stay healthy over time?
To figure this out, researchers conducted a rigorous study of 2,521 healthy obese people between the ages of 39 and 62 in the U.K.. Individual health was reassessed at 5, 10, 15 and 20 year-intervals.  And what the researchers found was pretty conclusive...
