Eggs
Some people can develop an intolerance to eggs, whether it be the whites, yolks or both. Unlike an egg allergy, egg intolerance is not life-threatening, but it can cause significant physical discomfort. Usually, you'll start to notice symptoms a few hours—or even a few days—after consuming them.
Common symptoms include:
- stomach pain
- bloating
- nausea
- vomiting
- diarrhea
- indigestion
- headaches
The best way to figure out if you're intolerant to eggs is to start a food diary and keep track of how you feel after eating them. Note down your symptoms, how long it took for them to appear and how long they last. Share your observations with your doctor, who can help you analyse them and come to a conclusion. If it turns out you are intolerant to eggs, the best thing to do is eliminate them from your diet, and that includes avoiding all dishes prepared with eggs.
