This symbol is on EVERY beauty product... and it's important!

We use beauty products and cosmetics on a daily basis... a bit of lotion here, a swipe of mascara there, but we had never paid attention to this little symbol, of a small pot with the lid taken off: 

Until now! When we noticed it, we discovered that it appears on practically every single product in our bathroom: concealers, hand creams, face scrubs... the lot! We also noticed that although the symbol remains the same, the number changes. Sometimes 6, sometimes 12 or 18. 

So what does it mean? 

Simply, it's an expiration date! In the case of the image above, this product is best used within 6 months after opening.
