5 Rookie Cooking Mistakes You're Probably Making

,
Gourmandize

Most amateur chefs have made these common cooking mistakes — and you're probably one of them.

Let meat rest before carving it

All of us have committed some of these common cooking mistakes in the past. But once you know the do's and don'ts of the kitchen, you'll be on your way to master chef status in no time!

For one thing, we all love a hot and hearty meal. That often leads us to forget one cardinal rule: always let the meat cool before cutting into it. When you take it straight out of the oven, you need to give it time for the juices to spread back into the meat. Cutting too early might cause the moisture to seep out or evaporate, leaving you with a dry roast! To avoid this problem, hold back from carving the meat for about 10 minutes after cooking.
