Every new dish we buy or receive as a gift inevitably comes with a little sticker on the bottom. Some of them play nicely and come right off in a simple swipe...but let's face it: most of us don't get that lucky.

For those stubborn little tags, it can seem like an impossible task to get rid of them completely. Most of the sticker will come off, of course, but you're always left with little bits or (maybe even worse) that annoying transparent residue that sticks to anything and everything it comes into contact with.

When soap and water just won't do the trick, there's one product you already have in your house that will: cooking oil.

Whether it's olive, vegetable, or otherwise, it will work wonders on that annoying sticky residue. Just pour some oil on the dish; rub it with a paper towel, dishcloth, or sponge; then rinse in warm water and soap.

Some stickers will take a bit longer than others to work off, but we have yet to meet one that could resist the magic of oil.

Now your brand new dish is ready to be filled with something delicious and set on the table!
