She Saw a Problem and Found a Solution

Rachael Ray became a household name thanks to her 30-minute meals concept. She first came up with it when working for a gourmet grocer in Upstate New York. Customers loved the ingredients found there, but dragged their feet when it came to cooking. So, she began demonstrating how to make meals that were both quick and delicious. Soon, she started doing these demos on local TV channels, and then the Food Network—penning several cookbooks in the process.
