The study goes on to say that Italians consume on average 23.5 kg of pasta per capita, and if they all were to switch to the passive cooking technique, they could collectively save approximately 4.1 million liters of water (that's enough to fill 1,640 Olympic-sized swimming pools) and up to 776 kilotons of CO2 (equivalent to the carbon emissions of a car taking 21 round trips between the earth and the sun). This reflects the impact Italy's population alone could make, so imagine if people adopted this method worldwide.
