Don't be impolite or overly demanding

As the saying goes, "the customer is always right." True...but this doesn't excuse you from being polite to restaurant staff. A simple "please" and "thank you" are always appreciated. Avoid snapping your fingers or waving impatiently to call the server. And finally, if you order something that's not on the menu, keep in mind that the kitchen is doing you a favor by accepting to make it for you. So don't be "that customer" who is overly demanding.
