Eating Too Late and Midnight Snacks
Remember: It's calories in vs. calories out that determines whether we lose weight, gain weight, or simply maintain. However, late night eating can be a contributing factor, as our bodies tend to burn fewer calories at night due to reduced activity and slowed digestion. This also leads to poor sleep quality caused by going to bed on a full stomach and potential heartburn.
Good news for night owls: there is no exact time when we should have our last meal, as long as there are several hours between eating and going to bed. If you find that you're consistently ravenous at night, you should eat more balanced meals throughout the day to stave off midnight cravings.
