Meringues

Meringues are so versatile that they can be baked into cookies or used as a base for several desserts like meringue pie or baked Alaska. If you don't bake ofen, you might be wary of whipping up your own meringue mixture from scratch. Just remember that the basic ratio is 1:1 (1 part egg whites, 1 part icing sugar). Many bakers will also add a dash of lemon juice or vanilla extract.
