Histamines

The third cause of your headaches could be histamines, which are chemicals our bodies releases due to an allergic reaction. Food and drinks that have been aged can cause this same bodily response, so red wine especially can be quite a problem.

In addition to various allergy-like symptoms (runny nose, dry eyes, etc.), some people experience headaches due to this reaction. If this is your case, taking an antihistamine before indulging in your favorite red should help prevent the symptoms.
