23-Karat Gold Leaf Ice Cream

This extravagant culinary creation is called the "Golden Opulence Sundae", and it's still sold at Serendipity 3 restaurant in New York City. The $1,000 dessert is made with three scoops of Tahitian vanilla ice cream wrapped in 23-karat gold leaf, imported caviar, almonds, vanilla beans, high-end chocolate, candied fruit from Paris and a gilded sugar-forged orchid (that takes 8 hours to make). Served in a $350 Baccarat Harcourt crystal goblet (which customers are allowed to keep), it also comes with an 18-karat gold spoon. Sheesh!
