I Went to Costco in France and This is What It Was Like

BIGGER ON THE INSIDE

Once finally in front of its massive doors, I saw that at the very least, the shopping carts were the same; you know, the gigantic ones that could eat three Trader Joe's carts for breakfast and still ask for two eggs over easy.

The first voices that hit me were definitely English-speakers, no doubt as curious as I was to see what Costco was like this side of the Atlantic. Who can blame them? Costco membership cards can be used at any Costco around the world, as long as they are still valid.

Now, I know this next part is going to sound silly, believe me: I know. Showing my membership card and pushing past into that high-ceiling warehouse made me happier than it should have. Looking around and seeing the familiar font on the laminated signs, smelling that familiar faint smell of popcorn and rotisserie chicken, feeling the familiar slight stickiness of the shopping cart—whoa.

It was a beautiful moment.
