WHAT WINE SHOULD YOU DECANT?

Before you get too carried away, know that not every wine needs decanting. In fact, old fragile red wines  won't stand up to the exposure to oxygen and will lose all of their structure and aroma completely.
Wines that benefit the most from decanting are young, robust and tannic red wines made with Cabernet and Syrah grapes.
Most everyday young whites and rosés do not need decanting, however doing so won't cause any harm. Some people even like to decant sparkling wines and Champagne, as this softens the sometimes aggressive bubbles.
