Sesame Rice

A simple south Indian recipe, which suits well for lunch boxes
- Cooked Rice - 2 cups
- salt - as per taste
- To roast and powder:
- urad dal - 2 tea spoon
- red chili - 3 medium
- Sesame - 1/4 cup
- To temper:
- oil - 2 -3 teaspoons
- peanuts - 2 tea spoon (optional)
- mustard seeds - 1/2 tea spoon
- urad dal - 1/2 tea spoon
- cashew nut - 2 tea spoon (optional)
- perungayam / hing - a pinch
- curry leaves - 1 sprig
Cumin / Jeera Rice

A simple yet flavorful rice which suits with any veg or non-veg curry
- Basmati rice -1 cup
- Jeera - 3 tea spoon
- Ghee - 3 tea spoon
- cahsew nuts - 2 tea spoon(optional)

Mango Rice

- cooked Rice- 2 cups
- Raw Mango - 1cup (Grated )
- peanuts - 1 table spoon
- channa dal - 1 table spoon
- urad dal - 1 tea spoon
- mustard seeds-1 tea spoon
- Red chilies - 2 nos (medium sized)
- curry leaves - a few
- turmeric powder - a pinch
- salt - as per taste
Soya Chunks fry

- Soya chunks / Meal maker - 2 cups
- Ginger garlic paste - 1 tea spoon
- Chili powder - 1/2 tea spoon.
- garam masala - 1/4 tea spoon
- turmeric powder - 1/4 tea spoon
- salt - as per taste
- Oil - to fry the chunks (1/2 cup to 1 cup)
- curry leaves - a few
Urad Dal Rice

Urad Dal / Ulunthu is one of the common dish in south india
- Ponni Rice- 1 cup
- Splited black urad dal - 1/2 cup
- venthayam - 1/8 tea spoon (or just 5 or 6 of it.)
- cumin / jeera - 1 tea spoon
- garlic - 2 gloves (cut into pieces)
- salt - as per taste
Chocolate Cup Cakes

I made these chocolate cup cakes for my Valentines( my daughter and hubby) this year
- All purpose / maida flour - 1 and 1/3 cups
- sugar - 1 cup
- unsalted butter - 1/2 cup / 8 tbsp (at room temperature)
- Eggs- 2
- cocoa powder- 1/2 cup (I used Hersheys's Natural)
- hot/ boiling water - 1 cup
- baking powder - 2 tea spoons
- vanilla extract- 2 tea spoons
- salt - 1/4 tea spoon
- any icing / frosting of your choice

Thenga pottukadalai chutney

This chutney is done with coconuts, fried gram, green chiles as the base ingredients
- Coconut - Half a cup (approx - 1/4 of a whole medium sized coconut)
- Fried Gram / Pottu kadalai - 1 table spoon
- Green Chili - 1 medium
- salt- to taste
- To Temper:
- Oil - 1 tea spoon
- mustard seeds - 1/4 tea spoon
- urad dal- 1/4 tea spoon
- curry leaves - a few
Egg Curry

A spicy southindian gravy made with spices and eggs
- boiled eggs - 4
- onion - 1 large
- coconut - 1/4 cup ground paste
- mustard seeds - 1/4 tea spoon
- ural dal -1/4 tea spoon
- Fennel seeds - 1/4 tea spoon
- bay leaf -1
- anistar - 1
- Oil -4 tea spoons
- To grind:
- ginger - 1 inch piece
- garlic - 3-4 gloves (The one I used are little big in size)
- Tomato -2 medium
- To roast and grind:
- channa dal - 1 table spoon
- coriander seeds - 1 table spoon
- Red Chilies - 3 (It was medium spicy, you can increase the numbers to your personal taste)
- Pepper - 4-5
- cumin seeds - 1 tea spoon
- Fennel seeds - 1/2 tea spoon
- cinnamon - 1 small piece
- clove- 3-4
Fruit and Nut Cake

A simple cake made with Dry fruits and Nuts
- All purpose / Maida - 1 cup
- Butter - 100 grams (at room temperature)
- Egg- 1
- Brown sugar - 1 cup
- Baking powder - 3/4 teaspoon
- coco powder/ chocolate powder - 1 tea spoon (I used unsweetened)
- grated orange peel - 2 tea spoons
- water - 1/2 cup to 3/4 cup
- veg oil - 2 tea spoon
- salt - a pinch (not required if salted butter is used)
- Nuts / fruits:
- Cashew, pista, tutti frutti, dates, raisins all together - 1 cup
