STYLE: Kate Middleton, and the dress that has divided a nation
Has Kate Middleton made her first fashion faux pas?
The Duchess of Cambridge stepped out in a Kate Spade silk dress for World Mental Health Day, and immediately divided fashion critics in England.
Style editors of The Daily Mail devoted a whole article to it, fiercely debating the dress, a pink number that will set you back approximately $525.
On one hand it was heavily praised:
"The colour brings out the sparkle in her eyes and the blush in her cheeks"
"The knee length is appropriate, while the blowsy rose print, pleats and oh-so-trendy pussybow neckline keep the look the right side of fashion forward"
On the other hand, haters have described it as "frumpy" and "worn with so little imagination".
They also complained about "the dated blow-dry" and the nude heels, saying "is there a woman in Britain who doesn’t despair at the sight of those nude heels again?"
What do you think? Do you love or hate this dress?
