Not cooking beef to the right temperature

Consuming raw or undercooked meat is one of the easiest ways to get food poisoning. Invest in a kitchen thermometer, and cook the following meats to their minimum temperatures:

  • Steaks, roasts: at least 145°F
  • Ground beef: at least 160°F

It's OK to let steaks and roasts rest for 5-10 min. after cooking, to lock their juices in. But don't wait too long to dig in!

Also, try to get your meat from a reliable source, to ensure the highest quality.
