Thawing frozen meats, poultry or seafood at room temperature

Letting frozen meats, poultry or seafood thaw on your countertop at room temperature is just inviting bacteria to develop. Instead, thaw them in the refrigerator, in the microwave using the defrost setting or under cold running water. If you use the latter two options, make sure you are ready to cook them immediately.
